Origin
The Dracaena deremensis 'White Jewel' originally comes from tropical regions in Africa, such as Ivory Coast, Angola, and Sudan. The plant belongs to the Agavaceae family, which has spread widely across tropical and subtropical areas.
Characteristics
The Dracaena deremensis 'White Jewel' is recognisable by its long, narrow leaves with a distinctive cream-white stripe down the centre of the leaf. The plant can reach a height of up to two metres, although it often remains smaller in households. It is an evergreen plant, meaning it retains its leaves all year round.
Care
The Dracaena deremensis 'White Jewel' requires relatively little care and is therefore a popular house plant. The plant thrives in partial shade and prefers moderate temperatures, between 16-24 degrees Celsius. Overwatering should be avoided; watering once a week is usually enough. Furthermore, the plant requires little nutrients, feeding once in the spring and summer is sufficient. Wiping the leaves with a damp cloth can help remove dust and keep the plant healthy.
