DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Agave parrasana originates from the northeast of Mexico, particularly from the regions of Coahuila and Nuevo Leon. This succulent grows on dry, rocky slopes at altitudes ranging from 1300 to 2200 meters above sea level. Although the plant is considered threatened in its natural habitat, it is cultivated worldwide as an ornamental plant.

Characteristics
The Agave parrasana, also known as the Parras agave, is a compact, rosette-forming plant. The leaves have a blue-grey hue and are thick and waxy, making the plant very drought tolerant. The leaves also have sharp, brown spines on the edges and a long, pointed stem. A mature Agave parrasana can reach a diameter of 60 to 90 centimeters. After many years of growth, the plant produces a striking flower stem that can reach up to 4 meters in height.

Care
The Agave parrasana is an easy plant to care for, as long as it has plenty of sunlight and well-drained soil. Although the plant is very drought tolerant, it can benefit from a sporadic watering during the summer months. During the winter months, watering should be reduced, especially in areas where temperatures drop below freezing. The plant can be grown both in pots and in the open ground.
