DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Fatsia japonica, also known as the paperplant, originates from South Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. This plant species can also be found in woodland areas in Hawaii and the southeast of the United States.

Characteristics
The Fatsia japonica is a deciduous shrub that generally grows between 1.5 to 2.5 meters tall. It is recognisable by its deep green, glossy leaves that have a hand-shaped structure with seven to nine lobes. The white flowers group themselves in dense clusters that appear in late autumn, followed by small, black fruits in winter.

Care
The Fatsia japonica thrives best in moist, well-draining soil and prefers partially shaded spots. It can tolerate some frost, but winter protection is recommended. Fertilising in the spring, alternated with pruning after flowering, guarantees optimal growth and bloom. When placed indoors, it is important to provide sufficient amounts of light and water.
