Origin
The Stewartia monadelpha, also known as the Tall Stewartia, is a plant species that is originally from Japan and Korea. The plant prefers to grow in forests at an altitude of 500-1700 meters above sea level. This unique plant species belongs to the Stewartia genus within the Theaceae family.

Characteristics
The Stewartia monadelpha is a small, deciduous tree that grows up to a height of 12 meters. It distinguishes itself with its peeling, cinnamon-coloured bark and small, saucer-shaped, white flowers. The flowers are conspicuous with their yellow stamens and bloom in the summer. The small evergreen leaves turn bronze to purple in the autumn.

Care
This plant species thrives best in sun or partial shade and requires well-draining soil. While it can withstand some drought once established, it prefers mildly moist soil. The Stewartia monadelpha can be somewhat difficult to cultivate and generally requires a balanced fertiliser regimen for optimal growth. Pruning of the plant is minimal, usually only to remove dead branches and to maintain the shape of the plant.
