Origin
The Cereus jamacaru 'Spiralis', also known as Spiral Cereus, is originally from South America, particularly in the dry, warm climate of Brazil. It occurs mainly in areas where precipitation is unpredictable and where long periods of drought are normal. This plant belongs to the cactus family, a varied group of plants that are adapted to a number of extreme environments.

Characteristics
Cereus jamacaru 'Spiralis' is striking because the body of the plant grows in a spiral shape. The plant can grow to more than 9 metres high and produces large, white flowers that only bloom for one night. The spiral growth of the Cereus jamacaru 'Spiralis' is rare, making this plant highly sought after among cactus enthusiasts and collectors. In addition to its spiral growth, this cactus also has long, sharp spines and produces large, edible fruits.

Care
The Cereus jamacaru 'Spiralis' requires little maintenance, but it does have specific care requirements. Like all cacti, it needs well-draining soil and should be kept in direct sunlight. The plant needs to be watered moderately, only when the top layer of soil is dry. Over-watering can cause rot and ultimately the death of the plant. During the winter, watering needs to be significantly reduced and the plant should be kept in a cool, dry place for overwintering.
