DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Yucca elata, also known as the soaptree yucca, originates from the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. These are desert plants that are commonly found in the Chihuahan and Sonoran deserts.

Characteristics
The Yucca elata has a large, short trunk and narrow, blue-green leaves. These leaves are typically 60 to 120 centimeters long and end in a sharp point. The plant produces tall, branched flower stems with white, bell-shaped flowers. In the wild, the Yucca elata can grow up to 5 meters tall.

Care
Despite its desert origin, the Yucca elata tolerates moderate humidity if well drained. It prefers full sun and well-draining soil, and can withstand temperatures up to -15°C. The plant requires little water, and a little fertiliser during the growing season. Pruning is permissible, but is generally not necessary.
