Origin
The Philodendron Dragon Tail is a tropical species of plant native to South America. This exotic climbing plant is particularly found in the rainforests of Brazil, where it winds around tree trunks and along ground vegetation.
Characteristics
The Philodendron Dragon Tail, also known as the Philodendron Bipennifolium, is characterised by its unique leaf shape that is reminiscent of a dragon's tail. The lush, dark green leaves are strongly veined and can reach a length of sixty centimetres in mature specimens. The plant has a climbing growth habit and develops aerial roots that seek support.
Care
In terms of care, the Philodendron Dragon Tail requires a light to semi-shaded location without direct sunlight: this can damage the leaves. The plant needs airy, well-draining potting soil and regular watering is essential. Watering can be reduced during the winter months. It is important to check the plant regularly for pests and diseases. A high humidity is greatly appreciated, just like in its original rainforest habitat.
