Origin
The Monstera Obliqua Variegata is a tropical climbing plant originating from South and Central America. This unique type of plant is part of the Araceae family and can mainly be found in the rainforest where it climbs trees to reach sunlight.

Characteristics
The Monstera Obliqua Variegata is characterised by its large, shiny leaves with distinctive cuts giving the plant an appearance often described as a Swiss cheese plant. The plant’s leaves can vary from deep green to light yellow depending on the amount of chlorophyll. Moreover, the plant has aerial roots which it uses to cling to trees in nature.

Care
Caring for the Monstera Obliqua Variegata requires some consideration given its natural habitat. The plant prefers a humid environment and indirect sunlight, as too much direct sunlight can burn the leaves. Generally, the potting soil should be lightly moist without water sitting at the bottom. For optimal growth, it is advisable to water the plant once a week during the warmer months and this can be reduced to once every two weeks during the cooler months. Finally, during the growing season, usually in the spring or summer, the plant can be fed with balanced houseplant fertiliser to encourage growth.
