With dark, earthy tones and natural materials, the greenery style trend Meaningful Earth seeks a connection with nature and the earth. Read on to discover more about this trend, suitable products, and applications in interior design.
Climate change has been an important theme in society for years. This is expressed in innovative ways. In the greenery style trend Meaningful Earth, this is done by emphasising circularity, biodiversity, and seeking a connection with the earth.
In this style trend, we see colours, materials, and shapes that evoke associations with nature, the earth, and an appreciation for it. Think of earthy tones, natural materials, products of recycled origin, and lush, irregular plants. This is reflected in our interpretation of Meaningful Earth, where we combine stone and natural material planters with unique plants such as the Aralia (Polyscias) 'Ming' and Decowood.
The Meaningful Earth style trend is characterised by dark colours, especially brown and green shades. These colours make a very direct link to the earth. Baq Terrazzo’s planter in the colour Mocha fits perfectly with this. For flowers, the colour palette is expanded with warm tones such as salmon pink and yellow.
In terms of materials, we mainly see coarse materials that are often sustainable because they are eco-friendly or recycled. A collection of planters that fits perfectly with this trend is Baq Naturescast, made from recycled forest remnants such as twigs. This material is Cradle to Cradle certified. Other materials that appear include stone, wood, cotton, and glass.
Shape usage takes into account a reference to the earth and a primal appearance. This also plays a role in the patterns. Think of coarse, rough, and irregular shapes and patterns. Spotted terracotta, for example, emphasises the naturalness of the material. The irregular shape of the Aloe plicatilis also shows the connection with nature.
