Healthy, strong plants start with the right care. In addition to sufficient light and water, nutrition plays a key role. Especially in spring, when plants become actively growing again, their need for nutrients increases. By providing the right nutrition at the right time, you support growth and keep plants in optimal condition. Read on for our tips on this topic.
All plants need nutrients to grow and develop properly. Plants in hydroculture or semi-hydroculture can only obtain their nutrients from the water. Providing nutrition is therefore essential for these plants.
By applying nutrition regularly:
you stimulate growth
leaves maintain their colour
you strengthen the overall health of the plant, reducing the risk of pests

Are you working with hydroculture or semi-hydroculture planting? Then we recommend using liquid fertiliser. This can easily be mixed with water and is naturally absorbed by the plant.
When choosing nutrition for hydro and semi-hydroculture, the properties of the water play an important role. Consider the pH level and water hardness.

A pH value of 5.7 to 6 is ideal, as plants absorb nutrients best at this level. If the pH is too high, this can lead to nutrient deficiencies, visible in yellow leaves, poor root growth and slow leaf development. Nieuwkoop hydro fertiliser for hard water can help bring the water to the correct pH level.
When choosing liquid fertiliser, it is important to consider the hardness of the water you use. If your water has a hardness of 8–12 dH (German hardness), you can use Nieuwkoop hydro fertiliser. If the hardness is higher, choose the Nieuwkoop hydro fertiliser for hard water.
Are you ordering plants or maintaining existing planting? Then check whether you still have sufficient nutrition in stock and order it directly if needed.
