As a leading company in the interior landscaping market, we are very happy to contribute to the preservation of the beautiful nature in Costa Rica, where many of our plants come from. From now on we are a partner of Adopt Rainforest and we are structurally committed to protecting the rainforest!

The rainforest in Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful places on earth with a very high biodiversity of plants and animals: essential to preserve for current and future generations. Adopt Rainforest does this by purchasing land with rainforest. They place the land that is purchased under Costa Rica's conservation law, protecting it from commercial exploitation forever. The ultimate goal is to protect 2,000 hectares of rainforest, so that monkeys and jaguars are slowly returning to the area.

About Adopt Rainforest

Originate

Adopt Rainforest was created out of pure passion for the rainforest and biodiversity. This passion forms the DNA of the foundation and is the indefinitely sustainable motivation to continue the good work that the foundation does and strives for. The foundation is located in the Netherlands and focuses mainly on fundraising and education in order to achieve the goals in Costa Rica.

Location

The reserve borders and forms a buffer for the Barbilla National Park and is located near the village of San Miguel, where the research center is also located. It concerns a special type of Caribbean lowland rainforest that is under great pressure from large-scale fruit plantations. The reserve is located in the Mesoamerican wildlife corridor connecting North and South America. It is part of "Reserva de Biosfera La Amistad" which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Nature Conservation Act

Costa Rica's rainforest is essential to preserve for current and future generations. Adopt Rainforest does this by purchasing land with rainforest. The land that has been purchased is placed directly under Costa Rica's conservation law, protecting it forever from commercial exploitation.

Local involvement

With the help of a local ranger, involvement and awareness among the local population is ensured so that trees are not cut down or animals are poached. Trapcam images show that various mammals have returned to the area!

Research Center

When rainforest is adopted, Adopteer Regenwoud brings it under the forest law. This makes cutting or thinning a criminal offense. Employees are also present locally to guarantee protection. In addition, a research center has been started on site where students from all over the world come to research plants and animals.
