Origin
The Crinum asiaticum, also known as the Giant Crinum Lily, originally comes from the tropical regions of Southeast Asia. These areas include countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Nepal and parts of India. The plant typically grows in coastal regions and wetlands, thus it prefers warm and moist climates.

Characteristics
The Crinum asiaticum is a striking plant due to its large, lily-like flowers. These flowers, which are predominantly white in colour, grow in clusters and have a trumpet-like structure. The leaves of the plant are elongated and lanceolate, with a length that may vary from 50 to 100 cm.

Care
Crinum asiaticum grows best in well-draining soil and it prefers sunny to semi-shady areas. The plant requires regular, generous watering, especially during dry periods. However, it is crucial to not let the plant roots soak in water as this can lead to root rot. Although the plant is heat-resistant, it requires protection from heavy frost.
