Origin
The Vriesea Davine is a member of the Bromelia family and has its origin in the warm and tropical areas of Central and South America. It grows there in natural conditions as an epiphyte, which means it obtains its nutrients from air, rain and waste around it, rather than from the soil.

Characteristics
The Vriesea Davine, also known as Vriesea 'Divine', has distinctive green leaves with a deep, wide central channel. The flowers are a striking feature, with their bright yellow colour and tall, upright shape. These flowers are unlike those of typical flowering plants, but are actually bracts that get their color from bractees, a type of leaf.

Care
Vriesea Davine generally needs bright, but indirect sunlight. It prefers to stay warm, with temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius. The plant requires high humidity and the soil should be kept consistently moist, but without too much water. Overwatering can cause the roots to rot. It is important to avoid watering directly into the flower head, as this may induce decay.
