Origin
The Soleirolia soleirolii, also known as Baby's Tears, is a low-growing, perennial plant that is native to the western Mediterranean. It is particularly abundant in Corsica, where it grows in forests, on moist rocks and in crevices. Over the years, the plant has also spread to other parts of the world, including North America and New Zealand.

Characteristics
The Soleirolia soleirolii is distinguished by its small, round leaves and thin, thread-like stems. The plant generally stays low to the ground, but can grow up to 10 centimetres in damp environments. During the spring and summer, the plant can produce thin, inconspicuous flowers that barely rise above the leaves. Thanks to its delicate, carpet-like appearance, Baby's Tears is often used as ground cover in gardens and terrariums.

Care
The Soleirolia soleirolii is an easy to care for plant that has few specific environmental requirements. Baby's Tears thrives best in moist, well-drained soil and can grow in both full sun and half-shade. Although the plant is fairly frost-resistant, intensive cold can damage it. Therefore, it is recommended to keep the plant indoors or in a sheltered environment in cold climates. Regular pruning helps to control the plant's growth and contributes to maintaining a neat, compact form.
