Origin
The Caladium Lucia, also known as the Heart of Jesus, originates from South America. It is mainly found in the humid, tropical rainforests of Brazil and has spread to other tropical and subtropical areas worldwide over the years.
Characteristics
The Caladium Lucia is an ornate indoor plant that is best known for its spectacular variegated leaves. The foliages are large, heart-shaped and have a unique colour palette of red, pink, white and green. The plant grows in the summer and retreats in the winter when the temperature drops.
Care
The Caladium Lucia has specific care needs. It prefers a place with indirect sunlight and high humidity. Excessive exposure to direct sunlight can cause leaf burn. Watering is crucial, especially during the active growth in the summer months, but overwatering should be avoided to prevent root rot.
