DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Taxus baccata 'Dovastoniana', also known as the Dovaston's Yew, is a cultivar of the common Taxus baccata, originating from Western Europe. This specific cultivar is named after the British dendrologist John Dovaston and was first grown in the English county of Shropshire around 1827.

Characteristics
The Taxus baccata 'Dovastoniana' is appreciated for its unique growth pattern and shape. The plant grows into a wide, spreading silhouette with drooping branches and is often wider than it is tall. The needle-shaped leaves are dark green and evergreen. It produces small cones which, instead of traditional scales, are surrounded by a bright red, fleshy covering, giving them the appearance of berries.

Care
For optimal growth, the Taxus baccata 'Dovastoniana' needs well-drained soil and a site in full sun or partial shade. Although the plant is tolerant of drought and regular pruning, it does not tolerate waterlogging. It is recommended to fertilise the plant annually in early spring with a general slow-release fertiliser.
