Origin
The Mandevilla, also known as Dipladenia, belongs to the Apocynaceae family. This group of plants originates from South America, specifically Brazil, where the plant variety grows in a wide range of environments, from tropical jungles to coastal areas.
Characteristics
The Mandevilla Rio White is distinguished by its striking, pure white flowers. These flowers are trumpet-shaped and can measure up to 7 centimetres in diameter. They are complemented by dark green, glossy leaves that form a beautiful contrast with the bright white colour. What's special about the Rio White compared to other Mandevillas is its compactness, which makes it less prone to sprawl.
Care
The Mandevilla Rio White requires well-drained soil and a spot in partial shade or full sun. Generally, this plant does excellently in planters, as long as there is ample drainage to prevent root rot. Although the Dipladenia is generally a warm weather plant, it can also cope quite well with cooler temperatures, but temperatures below freezing can cause damage. In terms of care, it should be added that this plant needs regular watering, but it's important to avoid overwatering.
