Origin
The Aglaonema 'Maria', also known as the Chinese Evergreen, has its origin in the damp, warm areas of Southeast Asia, from India to New Guinea. Here, the plant mainly grows in the shade of larger trees and plants, and has therefore adapted to environments with little light.

Characteristics
The 'Maria' is distinguished by its shiny, dark green leaves, often striped or covered with speckles in different shades of green. These leaves can be 15 centimetres wide and 20 to 35 centimetres long. The plant usually grows to be between 50 centimetres and 1 meter in height. It is known for its air-purifying properties and has the ability to absorb various types of harmful substances from the air.

Care
As for care, the Aglaonema 'Maria' requires little direct sunlight and can therefore be placed in semi-shade or shady spaces. Although the plant likes high humidity, it is fairly tolerant of dryness. However, it is essential to keep the soil evenly moist and ensure that no water remains in the planter. In general, this houseplant requires little maintenance, making it a popular choice among both beginner and advanced gardeners.
