DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Agave filifera is a type of plant from the Asparagaceae family. The species is originally from Mexico, particularly from the states of Hidalgo and Querétaro. In the past, this plant was also referred to as Agave filifera var. microceps. The Agave filifera is part of the Agave genus, which counts around 270 species worldwide.

Characteristics
The Agave filifera is a succulent plant that stands out due to its decorative shape and size. The plant has narrow, dark green leaves that conclude in a black thorn. Noteworthy are the white fibres, which hang at the leaf edges. The plant has the ability to grow up to a height of 60 centimetres and forms yellow-green flowers up to 3 metres high in the summer.

Care
In the care of the Agave filifera, the plant prefers full sun and well-drained soil to prevent the roots from rotting. Good drainage is essential when planting to avoid the roots remaining in water. The plant is fairly resistant to drought, but nevertheless requires regular watering in the summer period and less in the winter. Frosts are generally tolerated less well, although some species can survive winter conditions without protection.
