DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Agave nigra, also known as the black agave, originates from Mexico. Given its origin, this plant thrives exceptionally well in warm, dry climates and mountainous areas. Its natural habitat often consists of rocky soils with good drainage and full sun.

Characteristics
The Agave nigra is known for its striking, dark-coloured leaves. This characteristic gives the plant its nickname, the black agave. The leaves are thick and fleshy with a sharp thorn at the end. The plant can grow up to 90 cm tall and 120 cm wide. When the plant flowers, it produces a tall stem with yellow flowers, however, this only occurs once in the plant's life.

Care
Caring for the Agave nigra requires specific conditions that mimic the plant's natural environment. Thus, the plant needs well-drained soil to prevent root rot, and full sun is essential for the plant's growth. While the plant is drought-tolerant, occasional watering is necessary, mainly during the hottest months of the year. In winter, the plant needs little to no water.
