Origin
The Agave victoriae-reginae, also known as Queen Victoria's agave, is native to the northeast of Mexico, primarily in the state of Nuevo Leon. This plant thrives on rocky ground at altitudes between 1300 and 2500 meters above sea level. It inhabits semi-desert areas with semi-arid climates where rare rainfall and irregular temperatures are common.

Characteristics
The Agave victoriae-reginae is a slow-growing species that reaches a maximum height of 25 centimeters and attains a diameter of about 50 centimeters. It sports compact rosettes of dark green, thick, and succulent leaves with striking white markings. The leaves are wide and usually conclude with a clear black spine. This agave rarely produces flowers and only does so at the end of its lifecycle, typically after 20 to 30 years.

Care
When caring for Agave victoriae-reginae, it's important to know that the plant requires a sunny to semi-shaded location with well-drained soil. In the full sun, the colors of the leaves can become more intense. The plant is reasonably resistant to drought, but during the growing period, it requires moderate watering, and in winter it can be nearly dry. Overwatering can cause root rot, so care must be taken with watering. Despite its optimal growth in a warm climate, the plant can tolerate temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius.
