Origin
The Ficus altissima, also known as the Council Tree, is a tropical plant species originating from Southeast Asia. Its natural distribution ranges from India to the Philippines. In these regions, the plant predominantly grows in forests, sometimes reaching heights of up to 30 metres.

Characteristics
The Ficus altissima is an evergreen, fast-growing plant with a distinctive trunk and dark green, glossy leaves. The leaves often have a lighter edge and are arranged in an alternate pattern. The plant has aerial roots that anchor themselves in the ground, enabling it to grow to great heights. The Ficus altissima does not produce noticeable flowers.

Care
The Ficus altissima requires a subtropical climate and performs best in indirect sunlight or partial shade. The plant needs to be watered regularly, mainly during the growth period, but can also survive periods of drought. It thrives best at temperatures between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. The Ficus altissima can be susceptible to pests and diseases, therefore it is recommended to routinely check for these issues.
