Origin
The Asparagus falcatus, also known as the Sicklethorn asparagus, is a type of asparagus that originally comes from South Africa. The wild variant of this plant is most commonly found in coastal areas, where it behaves like a liana plant.

Characteristics
In terms of appearance, the Asparagus falcatus can be recognized by its shiny, dark green leaves with a sharp point. The plant has substantial yet graceful and feather-like branches that grow out at an angle from the stems, hence the nickname Sicklethorn asparagus. Moreover, the Asparagus falcatus can reach a height of up to two metres. In spring, the plant produces small white flowers that are followed by berries.

Care
Maintaining an Asparagus falcatus requires specific care. The plant does well in both full sun and semi-shade. The soil needs to be moist but also well-draining to prevent root rot. Although the Sicklethorn asparagus is moderately drought-tolerant, it prefers regular watering. Additionally, it is recommended to provide the plant with liquid fertiliser every two weeks during the growth season. Regular pruning is advised to control the plant's growth and shape.
