Origin
The Ficus binnendijkii 'Amstel King', better known as 'Alii', originates from the southeastern part of Asia and Northern Australia. In these regions the plant grows in tropical rainforests and on moist mountainsides. Narrow, long leaves and an elegant growth habit characterise this unique Ficus species, which found its way to the western world in the early twentieth century.

Characteristics
The Ficus binnendijkii 'Amstel King' is distinguished by its long, slim, dark green leaves that gently hang down. The plant can reach up to 3 meters high and is therefore an excellent choice for large spaces. The plant possesses a sturdy trunk with a brown colour, which forms an attractive accent to the dark foliage. This Ficus is a popular indoor plant due to its tolerance for different light conditions.

Care
The Ficus binnendijkii 'Amstel King' requires a fair amount of light but can't tolerate direct sunlight. Indirect light is best for the plant's growth and the conservation of its health. The plant has a moderate watering requirement, it's good to allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. The Ficus 'Amstel King' is also sensitive to temperature and prefers a constant temperature between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius.
