Origin
The Pleomele (Dracaena) reflexa 'Song of Sri Lanka' is a plant originally from Madagascar and the Indian Ocean islands. It is part of the Asparagaceae family and belongs to the Dracaena genus. This plant has several nicknames such as Dragon Tree and Houseplant Ivy.

Characteristics
The 'Song of Sri Lanka' is characterized by its narrow, shiny and green leaves which are seen as decorative. The leaves stand upwards forming an elegant shape. The plant can grow up to 1 metre tall, via the trunk from which new leaves grow. The flowering of the plant consists of small yellow or white flowers but these are generally quite rare.

Care
A Pleomele reflexa prefers an even, moist soil. The potting soil should never dry out between watering. The plant prefers indirect light and can be damaged by direct sunlight. It also enjoys a moist environment, so regular spraying benefits the plant. As the plant grows, pruning the tops of the plant will encourage it to branch out further.
