Origin
The Sansevieria zeylanica, commonly known as the Snake Plant, originates from Sri Lanka and India. The plant mainly grows on rocky soils, where it has developed excellent adaptability to survive in dry environments, making it a very resilient houseplant that requires little care.

Characteristics
The Sansevieria zeylanica is characterised by its rigidly upright, sword-shaped leaves with an interesting marbling effect. The leaves are dark green in colour with light green horizontal stripes. The plant can grow up to a meter high and has a slow growth rate. In addition, the Sansevieria zeylanica is an air-purifying plant, meaning it can improve the air quality at home by removing certain toxic substances.

Care
Maintaining a Sansevieria zeylanica is relatively straightforward. The plant does not require much water and thrives well in both bright direct light and light shade. It is important to ensure that the plant is not placed in cold temperatures or draughty conditions. If overwatered, the plant can suffer from root rot, so it's best to give less water rather than too much. The plant has no special nutritional needs and prefers well-drained soil.
