Origin
The Chamaedorea elegans, also known as the Mexican dwarf palm, originates from the rainforests of Southern Mexico and Guatemala. This species of plant has been a common sight in European interiors since the 19th century. In its natural habitat, the Chamaedorea elegans grows in the shade of larger plants and trees.

Characteristics
The Chamaedorea elegans is a compact, evergreen plant that generally reaches a height of 60 to 120 centimeters. The plant distinguishes itself through its elegant, finely divided, feathered leaves on bamboo-like stems. The leaves are deep green in colour with a glossy finish, while the stems have a striking yellow-green hue. On the flowering stem of the Chamaedorea elegans, you can find small, yellow-white flowers.

Care
The Chamaedorea elegans requires high humidity and should therefore be sprayed regularly. This plant, which generally tolerates a low to average amount of light, should be placed in a location where it receives indirect sunlight. It is advisable to always keep the soil of the Chamaedorea elegans slightly damp, but avoid overwatering as this can lead to root rot. It is also essential to plant it in well-draining potting soil and provide it with light, regular fertilization during the growing season.
