Origin
The Caryota mitis, also known as the fishtail palm, is a plant species originally from Southeast Asia. Here it is particularly prevalent in the rainforests of India, Malaysia and the Philippines. These regions provide the plant with a warm and humid climate, crucial for its growth and development.

Characteristics
The Caryota mitis distinguishes itself by its unique leaf structure, in which the leaves take on the shape of a fishtail, thus the term 'fishtail palm'. This evergreen plant can grow to between 3 and 12 meters in height. The fishtail palm grows in clusters and, at its mature height, develops attractive inflorescences, which then produce small, round fruits.

Care
Specific to the care of the Caryota mitis, this plant prefers a bright location, without exposure to direct sunlight. Excessive exposure to sunlight can lead to burning of the leaves. High humidity is also beneficial for the fishtail palm, best maintained by regular misting. Furthermore, the palm should be placed in well-drained soil and the soil should lightly dry out between watering to prevent root rot. It is also recommended to lightly feed the plant during the growing season with a balanced plant food.
