Product number : 4ARHE3T10
DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Araucaria heterophylla, also known as the Norfolk pine, originates from Norfolk Island situated between New Zealand and New Caledonia. This island boasts a subtropical climate, which gives a hint to the ideal growing conditions for this plant. The settlers brought the Norfolk pine to Europe, where it gained popularity in the 19th century.

Characteristics
The Araucaria heterophylla is an evergreen plant that can vary in height from a few meters in a living room to 60 meters in the wild. The plant is known for its distinctive, pyramidal shape and its spiky, dark green needles. The trunk is usually covered with a pattern of diamond-shaped scars from dead branches. The Norfolk pine starts to bear cones with seeds around the age of 15-20 years.

Care
For optimal growth, the Norfolk pine needs a bright location, but it does not tolerate direct sunlight. The plant thrives best at a constant, higher room temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius and high humidity. During the growth season, which runs from May to September, the soil must be kept constantly moist. Outside the growth season, the soil should slightly dry out between watering sessions. The Norfolk pine is not frost-hardy and cannot tolerate frost.
