Origin
The Blechnum gibbum, also known as the dwarf tree fern, originates from the southern part of the Pacific Ocean, including New Caledonia and the Fiji Islands. This plant species belongs to the family of the Blechnaceae and is known for its refined, graceful appearance.
Characteristics
The Blechnum gibbum is characterised by its crispy, wavy leaves that form a real eye-catcher. This evergreen plant has an average height of about 90 centimetres, with leaves that can grow up to a meter long. The dwarf tree fern grows in the form of a small, compact tree with the leaves growing closely around the central trunk.
Care
In terms of care, the Blechnum gibbum primarily requires a high humidity level, a light location and a constantly moderate temperature, as these conditions most closely resemble its natural habitat. However, direct sunlight should be avoided as it can burn the leaves of the plant. Furthermore, it is recommended to always keep the soil of the dwarf tree fern lightly moist. Too much water can however cause root rot, which makes it important to carefully dose the watering.
