Origin
The Bucida buceras 'Shady Lady', also known as the Black Olive Tree, has its origin in the tropical regions of Central and South America and the Caribbean. This type of tree grows in places including Mexico, Cuba and the Bahamas. It can be found in coastal regions, where it has adapted to salty and sandy conditions.

Characteristics
The 'Shady Lady' is an evergreen, slow-growing tree that reaches about 15 to 20 metres in height. Its leaves are small, oval-shaped, and glisten in the sun. The tree has a broad, shady crown and a whimsically shaped trunk. During the blooming period, the tree bears small, yellow flowers followed by black, olive-like fruits.

Care
The Bucida buceras 'Shady Lady' requires little maintenance and is tolerant of the type of soil. The tree grows best in full sun, but can also stand in partial shade. Its resistance to salt makes it suitable for coastal areas. Regular pruning helps to maintain the shape of the crown and keep the tree healthy. It is advisable to irrigate the tree during dry periods.
