Alocasia 'Polly'
Tuft

Origin
The Calathea Mix 8/tray, also known as the Prayer Plant, originates from the tropical areas of South America. This plant family mainly occurs in the wild in the humid, warm rainforests of Brazil.
Characteristics
Characteristic for the Calathea Mix 8/tray are the striking leaves. These contain a mix of patterns and colours that range from light green to deep purple. The plant has an average height of about 60 centimetres. In the evening, the leaves close, a unique feature that earned the plant its nickname 'Prayer Plant'.
Care
The Calathea Mix 8/tray requires a light, but not directly sunny location. In order to maintain high humidity, which the plant is used to from its original environment, it is advisable to spray regularly. These plants are also quite specific about their water supply: they prefer lukewarm water and not calcium-rich water. During the growth period, which is from April to September, a monthly fertilisation is recommended.
