Origin
The Chlorophytum comosum 'Lemon', commonly known as the Spider Plant, has its origin in tropical Africa. In particular, it can be found in South Africa and Mozambique. The plant is a member of the Asparagaceae family and was already known to the ancient Greeks and Romans.
Characteristics
The Chlorophytum comosum 'Lemon' is known for its attractive, green-leaf appearance with a notable yellow edge. The plant has long, trailing branches each holding a cluster of small, white flowers. The flowers develop into small, spheroidal green fruits. The mature plant can reach a height of around 60 cm, making it an ideal pot plant.
Care
The Chlorophytum comosum 'Lemon' prefers a well-lit location, but can also grow in partial shade. The plant needs quite a lot of water, especially in the warmer months. Cooler temperatures in the winter months can be survived, as long as it does not freeze. Feeding with standard houseplant food is necessary throughout the year, except in the winter months when the plant grows less.
