Origin
Echinopsis atacamensis 'Pasacana' originates from the highlands of the Andes mountains in South America. This region spans parts of Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile. The plant grows on dry, rocky slopes at altitudes between 2,000 and 3,500 metres. The climate in this area is sunny and arid, with large temperature differences between day and night.
Characteristics
Echinopsis atacamensis 'Pasacana' belongs to the Cactaceae family. The plant can grow as a columnar cactus that may reach several metres in height. The stems are thick, cylindrical, and marked by pronounced ribs and conspicuous areoles with spines. The flowers are white to pale pink, funnel-shaped, and usually open at night.
Care
Echinopsis atacamensis 'Pasacana' requires plenty of light, preferably full sun. The plant needs well-draining, mineral-rich soil. During the growing season, moderate watering is necessary; the soil should be allowed to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, a cooler, drier period is recommended to allow the plant to rest.
