Origin
The Epiphyllum anguliger is a plant species that is originally from the tropical regions of Mexico. It belongs to the cactus family and naturally grows primarily in the jungle. The plant is also known as Fishbone Cactus, but this name is not used further in the text.
Characteristics
The Epiphyllum anguliger distinguishes itself by its unique, zigzag-shaped leaves. These leaves are flat and fleshy, with angled 'zigzag' patterns giving this species its unusual appearance. The flowers appear in late summer and have a pale yellow colour. Interestingly, the flowers only bloom for one night.
Care
This plant requires specific care. The optimal location is a place in partial shade, where the plant is protected against strong sunlight. The Epiphyllum anguliger also requires a well-draining soil and needs to be watered moderately, especially in the winter period. In case of overwatering, the plant can start to rot. It is also advisable to fertilise the plant in the summer period for optimal growth.
