Origin
The Euphorbia tirucalli 'Stick on Fire', also known as the pencil tree, has its origin in Africa, but is now found in multiple parts of the world, including South America and India. It is naturally a plant that feels at home in dry, desert-like environments. This cacti-like shrub appreciates full sun and a warm climate.

Characteristics
The Euphorbia tirucalli 'Stick on Fire' stands out for its bright, colourful branches. It has green, cylindrical branches that turn bright red and orange throughout the year when exposed to the sun, earning it the name 'Stick on Fire'. The plant can grow considerably tall, up to three metres high. When pruned or damaged, the plant secretes a milky sap.

Care
Euphorbia tirucalli 'Stick on Fire' tolerates drought very well and requires minimal watering. It is essential that the plant has well-drained soil to prevent root rot. It is an ideal plant for a room with full sun but can also tolerate some shade. When fertilising, a light application of a balanced, water-soluble food in the late spring is sufficient.
