Origin
The Guzmania 'Calypso', also known under the name Bromelia, originates from the tropical rainforest of South and Central America. This exotic plant belongs to the Bromeliaceae family and is named after the Spanish botanist Anastasio Guzman, who contributed greatly to the study of this plant family.

Characteristics
Guzmania 'Calypso' distinguishes itself by its striking red-orange flower that rises above the green foliage. Characteristic of the Guzmania are the narrow, long leaves that grow in a rosette. The main feature of this variety, the Calypso, is the long-lasting bloom and the fiery red colour of the bract, which is a kind of striking leaf-like structure surrounding the flowers.

Care
Although the Guzmania 'Calypso' is naturally a tropical plant, it is fairly simple to care for. The plant needs a light to semi-shady location, but does not tolerate direct sunlight. It is important to water the plant regularly, but avoid water saturation. It is recommended to pour the water directly into the rosette of the plant and to keep the potting soil lightly moist.
