Origin
The Lepismium bolivianum is originally a native plant from the rainforests of Bolivia and Argentina. Here, this climbing cactus grows on tree trunks and rock walls. The species is a part of the cactus family, also known as Cactaceae.

Characteristics
As a cactus species, the Lepismium bolivianum has succulent properties, which means it stores water in its fleshy leaves. The leaves are flat and elongated, with notches along the edges. The plant produces small white to pink flowers that are typical for cactus species. These appear in the spring and summer. This type of cactus is especially popular for its hanging, climbing growth habit.

Care
The Lepismium bolivianum has a high light requirement and performs best in indirect sunlight. Too bright, direct sunlight can damage the leaf. The plant requires an average to high amount of water and it's important to let the soil dry out between watering to prevent root rot. The Lepismium bolivianum is best kept indoors at an average room temperature, between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. This cactus requires little maintenance and is therefore suitable for beginning plant enthusiasts.
