Origin
The Opuntia indica, better known as the Indian fig cactus, is a type of cactus originating from Mexico. However, the plant is widely distributed and can be found in many parts of the world. Thanks to its distinct ability to survive in dry and hot conditions, it has been able to establish itself in the world’s driest areas.

Characteristics
The Opuntia indica is a succulent plant and is part of the cactus family. This species stands out due to its flat, oval trunks, which resemble large scales and bear thorns. The flowers are bright yellow and bloom in late spring or early summer. The fruits are edible and have a sweet taste.
