Origin
The Pachycereus pringlei, also known as the Cardon cactus, is a type of cactus that is native to Mexico. It is known to be the tallest cactus species in the world and can particularly be found in the Mexican region of Baja California. This cactus grows in desert-like environments where the climate is dry and hot.

Characteristics
Pachycereus pringlei can grow up to an imposing height of 20 metres. The cactus has a robust, columnar shape with several side arms that can grow out of the main trunk. The spines of the Pachycereus pringlei are long and sharp, and their colour varies from grey to brown. In the spring, the cactus produces large, white blossoms, which open at night and close again at sunrise.

Care
Despite being a desert plant, the Pachycereus pringlei does require regular watering. It is recommended to water the plant weekly during the hot summer months. In winter, the watering can be reduced to once a month. It is important to provide well-draining soil to prevent root rot. This cactus species prefers a sunny location but can also tolerate some shade during the day.
