Origin
The Phalaenopsis 'October Forest' is a cultivated variant of the genera Phalaenopsis and originates from Asia, more specifically from the areas between India and the Philippines. It was first discovered in the 19th century and has since made its way to Europe. In nature, these orchids are epiphytic, meaning they grow on the surface of other plants.

Characteristics
The plant is one of the most popular orchids due to its long flowering period with exotic, often striped or speckled flowers. This orchid has wide, flat leaves that are shiny green. The 'October Forest' 10/tray variant is known for its beautiful pink/purple flowers that, with good care, can bloom almost all year round. The plant grows to about 60 to 70 centimetres tall.

Care
The Phalaenopsis 'October Forest' has specific care needs. It requires a lot of indirect sunlight to prevent the leaves from burning. The plant also prefers a high humidity of around 60-70%. In terms of irrigation, the Phalaenopsis 'October Forest' grows best with balanced watering; sufficient water to keep the plant hydrated, but without soaking the roots. To keep the flowers healthy and encourage them to bloom, a light application of a specific orchid fertiliser is needed.
