Origin
The Rhipsalis burchellii, also known as the mistletoe cactus, originates from the rainforests of Brazil. Here, the plant is an epiphyte, which means it grows in the branches and trunks of other, larger trees. Here, the plant finds the humid and shady environment that it enjoys.

Characteristics
The Rhipsalis burchellii is a hanging cactus with lanky stems that produce small, white, bell-shaped flowers. This usually happens in late winter and early spring. After blooming, the plant forms small red fruits. The stems are green and unlike many cacti, the Rhipsalis burchellii does not have prominent spikes.

Care
The Rhipsalis burchellii requires relatively little care. The plant is satisfied with moist soil and a location out of direct sunlight. In the winter months, little to no water is needed. The care of this plant is similar to that of orchids; a little water weekly and a location with indirect sunlight. Also ensure that the temperature stays between 16 and 25 degrees Celsius for optimum growth.
