Origin
The Rhipsalis ramaloris is an exotic plant species that has its origin in South America. This plant is indigenous to the rainforests of Brazil and Argentina, and belongs to the cactus family. It typically grows at high altitudes in the shelter of trees, making it an epiphytic plant. The scientific name 'Rhipsalis ramaloris' comes from the Greek words 'rhips', which means 'loom', and 'ramaloris', which means 'branches'.

Characteristics
The Rhipsalis ramaloris is a hanging plant with long, thin and cylindrical stems. Its stems, which can grow up to 1.5 meters long, contain multiple branches and are covered with small, soft thorns. This type of cactus has no leaves, but photosynthesizes through its green stems. Moreover, the Rhipsalis ramaloris produces small white flowers in late winter to early spring, followed by small, round fruits.

Care
As a typical epiphytic plant, the Rhipsalis ramaloris prefers an indirect, light environment similar to its natural habitat. The plant does not need much water - overwatering can in fact lead to root rot. A moist, well-draining soil mix is ideal for keeping the plant healthy. Despite the Rhipsalis ramaloris being a cactus, it does not thrive in direct sunlight and prefers a humidity of over 50%. Make sure the plant is protected against temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius to prevent frost damage.
