Origin
The Sansevieria cylindrica 'Mikado' 7/tray, also known as the African spear plant, originates from West Africa. It belongs to the Asparagaceae family and predominantly grows in the dry regions of Angola.

Characteristics
The 'Mikado' is a unique variant of the Sansevieria cylindrica with the characteristic cylindrical, thin leaves. The leaves are dark green in colour with light horizontal stripes and can reach a length of up to 1 meter. The plant grows in a fan shape and has a strong, fibrous structure. It has small, perfect flowers that seldom bloom.

Care
Despite its exotic appearance, the Sansevieria cylindrica 'Mikado' requires little care. The plant loves lots of light but can also survive in the shade. Water supply is only sporadically required as the 'Mikado' is drought tolerant and stores water in its leaves. Overwatering can lead to root rot. The ideal room temperature for the 'Mikado' lies between 15 and 28 degrees Celsius. It is also advisable to repot the plant annually in the spring.
