Origin
The Sansevieria zeylanica, also known as Mother-in-law's tongue, originates from Sri Lanka and India. Here, it prefers the dry, rocky environments, which contributes to its ability to survive in various conditions.

Characteristics
The Sansevieria zeylanica stands out because of its long, sharp leaves that grow in a rosette shape. The leaves, which can range from 70 cm to as much as 90 cm long, have a green colour with horizontal stripes in a lighter shade. This succulent plant is very hardy and strong, and is known for its air purifying qualities.

Care
For the care of the Sansevieria zeylanica, it's important to realise that this plant has a strong preference for light. Yet, this plant can also survive in partial shade or under artificial light. Overwatering should absolutely be avoided, as it can lead to root rot. The plant also prefers it on the warmer side, with temperatures between 15 and 29 degrees Celsius as optimal. It is best to water the plant sparingly and let the soil dry out thoroughly between waterings.
