Origin
The Lavandula angustifolia 'Arctic Snow', also known as the white lavender, has its origin in the mountainous areas of the Mediterranean. Here, the plant grows in the wild and has developed its distinctive characteristics.
Characteristics
The 'Arctic Snow' is a variant of the Lavandula angustifolia and is characterised by its white flowers instead of the usual purple flowers of the lavender plant. The compact, ovate shrub reaches a height of about 40 to 50 centimetres. The plant has a strong scent, which is typical for the lavender genus.
Care
The Lavandula angustifolia 'Arctic Snow' thrives best in well-drained, fertile soil and a sunny to semi-shady location. The plant is drought resistant and therefore needs little additional water. It is recommended to prune the plant after flowering to maintain shape and growth. It is important to note that the 'Arctic Snow' can tolerate moderate frost but needs protection in severe frost.
