Guzmania 'Calypso' 6/tray
Red
4GUZCBP05
Origin
The Guzmania Linea Pink is an exotic beauty that was originally only found in South America. It is part of the Bromeliad family, a group that houses approximately 3,140 different species. Although they are often found in the tropical rainforests of the continent, some sources suggest that the number of species growing in the wild is decreasing.
Characteristics
The Guzmania Linea Pink is an epiphytic, flowering plant, which means it grows on the surface of other plants. It stands distinguished by its shiny green leaves and striking, bright pink inflorescence. The flower stems grow from the middle of the rosette-shaped plant and present itself as brilliant, long, narrow leaves standing in a star pattern. The flowers themselves are quite small and less noticeable, clustered in the middle of this spectacular inflorescence.
Care
The Guzmania Linea Pink is a relatively carefree plant that prefers a spot in indirect light. Harsh, direct sun can burn the leaves. It flourishes best at temperatures between 18-27°C and should absolutely not be exposed to temperatures below 13°C. The water needs are fulfilled by filling the middle rosette with water, thereby creating a kind of reservoir from which the plant can drink. As the Guzmania Linea Pink is a tropical species, it appreciates high humidity. One can increase this by occasionally spraying the plant. Overall, this plant is pretty low maintenance; following these basic guidelines should be sufficient to ensure healthy growth.
