Origin
The Schefflera Actinophylla, also known as the umbrella plant, originates from the tropics of Australia and New Guinea. This plant often grows there as a shrub or tree in the forests. They are often found in rainforests, but also in areas that are exposed to frequent forest fires.

Characteristics
Characteristic of the Schefflera Actinophylla are the compound leaves that hang like an umbrella on the plant. The leaves can become up to 30 cm long and 25 cm wide. The plant rarely blooms indoors, but outdoors it produces red or white flowers that hang in clusters on the plant. This exotic plant can reach a height of 15 meters under ideal conditions.

Care
The Schefflera Actinophylla requires a bright but indirect light source and average to high humidity. As this plant originates from tropical rainforests, it prefers high humidity and evenly moist soil, but it can also cope well with drought. For optimal growth, regular fertilising during the growing season is recommended.
