Origin
The Monstera siltepecana is a type of climbing plant that naturally occurs in the rainforests of Central and South America. This beautiful plant grows on both the forest floor and in trees, and prefers humid, shady environments. Moreover, it is also known as the Swiss cheese plant or Epipremnum pinnatum.
Characteristics
The Monstera siltepecana has dark green, shiny leaves with a unique serrated edge, which makes it an attractive addition to any interior. As a young plant, the leaves of the Monstera siltepecana are silvery with green veins, but as the plant ages, fenestrations (holes) appear in the leaves. The leaves can grow up to 30 centimeters long and grow on long, branched stems.
Care
The Monstera siltepecana likes bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can burn the leaves of the plant. It also prefers high humidity, but can also survive in less humid environments. As for water needs, the top layer of the soil should dry out between watering. Excess water should be able to drain away, as the roots should not have prolonged contact with water to prevent root rot. Support the plant’s natural climbing tendencies with a moss pole or another form of support.
