Origin
The Ficus benjamina 'Natasja' is a plant species from the Moraceae family, originally from the tropical regions of Southeast Asia and Australia. This plant can be found in forests and on plantations. Nowadays, the Ficus benjamina 'Natasja' can also be found in many other places around the world, largely thanks to its popularity as a houseplant.
Characteristics
The Ficus benjamina 'Natasja' is characterised by its shiny green leaves which have an oval shape and grow closely together. This plant is considered to be a small-staying variant of the Ficus benjamina, with a maximum height of approximately 150 centimetres. The trunk of the Ficus benjamina 'Natasja' is typically smooth and the roots grow superficially, with some aerial roots.
Care
The Ficus benjamina 'Natasja' requires a light location, but direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent leaf damage. On the whole, this plant needs little water, especially in the winter months, the soil may lightly dry out between watering. A room temperature between 16 and 24 degrees Celsius is ideal for the Ficus benjamina 'Natasja'. Whilst the plant tolerates some drought, it grows better in high humidity. It is recommended to regularly mist the plant and to keep the leaves dust-free with a damp cloth.
